The challenge

Gate moves, inspections, repairs and reports for the shipping lines lived on paper and in spreadsheets. Every truck at the gate needed a manual check.

The solution

  1. 01Depot management: containers, imports and exports, requests, cleaning and repair, shipping lines and reports.
  2. 02An automatic gate: ANPR cameras read the plate and raise the barrier for company vehicles and for trucks expected that day.
  3. 03Container numbers read from the camera images (OCR).
  4. 04An Android app for the yard: NFC card sign-in, damage photos, gate camera snapshots and receipt printing.
  5. 05A portal for customers and shipping lines with containers, requests, reports and invoices.
  6. 06An EDI gateway that sends CODECO messages (UN/EDIFACT D.95B) to the shipping lines over HTTP or SFTP.

Hardware and integrations

Dahua ANPR cameras, NFC readers and MIFARE cards, a Zebra label printer and a Bluetooth Datecs receipt printer.

The result

The gate, the yard, customers and shipping lines work in one system. Every gate event is logged with a plate number and a photo.
